Privacy Policy

Village Yontif owns and operates this website: VillageYontif.org.  This statement discloses the privacy practices of VillageYontif.org. VillageYontif.org shares information regarding events and fundraisers for Village Yontif, an egalitarian, humanist congregation in Greenwich Village. All are welcome to explore their spirituality, as well as their connection to our ancestors, each other, and the melting pot that is New York City, through our inclusive services which offer prayer, song, ritual, story, reflection, and commentary.

Village Yontif reserves the right to modify this privacy policy at any time.

Information Collection and Use

On certain pages of this web site, in particular when donating online or registering for a special event, visitors may be asked to list their name, email address, residence address, other personal contact information and credit card information ("Personal Information").  Visitors are not required to provide Personal Information in order to browse this website and obtain valuable information.  Village Yontif is the sole owner of the information collected on this website.  We take every precaution to protect our users' Personal Information and Village Yontif will not sell, share or exchange Personal Information with any other organization or individual in any way other than as disclosed in this Privacy Policy. When users submit sensitive information via the website, their information is protected both online and off-line.

Security

When our donation form asks users to enter Personal Information, that information is encrypted and is protected with the best available encryption software (SSL).  While on a secure page, such as our donation form, the lock icon on the bottom of web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just 'surfing.'  We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using SSL software, which encrypts information you input. Village Yontif does not store or use credit card numbers for any purpose other than to obtain donations as authorized by visitors to our website.

While we use SSL encryption to protect Personal Information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user information off-line.  All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices.  Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job function (for example, our shipping assistant in the case of forwarding requested materials or other authorized staff members) are granted access to Personal Information.  Furthermore, all employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices.

If you have any questions about the security of our website, you can send an email to daniel@villageyontif.org.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file which a website places on a site visitor's computer hard drive.  Its purpose is to let the site know when a user visits and to perform certain functions such as saving passwords and personal preferences.  Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any Personal Information while on our site.  Once the user closes their browser, the cookie simply terminates.
